For our UK Policyholders: On 15 January 2021, the Supreme Court handed down its judgment on the business interruption (BI) test case in relation to Covid-19.

At HDI Global Specialty we strive to provide our policyholders with certainty in uncertain times and intend to pay any outstanding valid claims affected by the Supreme Court judgment promptly. We are liaising with our agents and service providers to ensure that all policyholders, who have made claims which are affected, to explain the next steps. We would advise you to contact your agent in the first instance if you have any queries on your claim or policy coverage.

The FCA have published a policy checker and policyholder frequently asked questions (FAQs) which you can use to find out if your insurance policy may cover business interruption losses caused by coronavirus (Covid-19) as a result of the FCA’s test case and what you can do next.

If you require any general information or advice on the financial services sector’s response to the Coronavirus pandemic in the UK, you can visit the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) website, which has dedicated information for Insurance customers (UK only): https://www.fca.org.uk/consumers/insurance-and-coronavirus (external link)

In addition, our business customers in the UK may be eligible to benefit from the UK Government’s new financial measures to support businesses through this challenging period.
